DECA Students Advance
International Competition in Kentucky

Ohio DECA Career Conference and Competition was held Friday-Saturday, March 19-20, 2010 in Columbus.  After competing at this event, the following E-Commerce and Marketing students are eligible to compete at the International Career Development Conference in Louisville, KY at the end of April.

Plain Local Science Fair Sends 35 to District
The Plain Local Science Fair Thursday, March 4 was an overwhelming success.  PLSD had 380 5th – 8th graders present projects.  From there, 35 students have advanced to the District Level Competition at Mount Union College on Saturday, March 27.

Judges are needed at the District event from 8:30 to 9:15 AM for a meeting and then for judging from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.   Please contact Dave Pilati at pilatid@plainlocal.org if you are willing and able to judge. 


DON’T MISS THE 4th ANNUAL STADIUM AUCTION APRIL 17!

The Golden Eagle Athletic Association invites the entire community to the fourth annual Stadium Auction on Saturday, April 17, from 6-10pm at GlenOak High School. This is the committee’s largest event held to raise funds for the expansion and enhancement of GlenOak stadium and Bob Commings Field. 

The group is currently accepting donation of auction items and theme baskets. Tickets will be available in March. For more information, call the GlenOak Athletic Department at 330-491-3850.

Doors open at 6pm, dinner at 6:30pm followed by a live Auction and Basket Raffle

Reservations are $18 per person and includes dinner and live music entertainment, as well as the chance to bid on a variety of awesome merchandise donated by area businesses !  
 
SEATING IS LIMITED!!   Choir students are currently taking reservations or call Marcy Rogers at 330-309-2072.

Cheerleading Try-Outs
GlenOak High School Cheerleading tryouts will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 3:30 pm.  There will be a pre-tryout meeting held Wednesday, March 25, 5:30pm.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

The Plain Local School District has begun offering kindergarten registration for children who will be 5 years old by September 30, 2010. Register anytime at either school from 8:00am - 3:30pm. Those unsure as to which kindergarten location their student will attend can register at either location.

2010-2011 School Calendar
The Plain Local Schools Board of Education approved the 2010-2011 school calendar.  The District is awaiting final approval from the state of Ohio for waiver days (teacher / staff inservice) planned for August 25 and September 3.  If the state does not approve the days, they will become regular school days for students and staff.

Progress Report Dates
The Plain Local School District has set the dates that progress reports will be shared with families for the 2009-2010 school year. The third nine weeks ends March 26 and progress reports will be mailed or sent home April 9, 2010. Click here to download the entire schedule.

GOHS SPIRIT SHOP
The Spirit Shop is located at door #17 on the east side of GlenOak HS. The volunteer run store is open Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5:00-7:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am - 12:00noon.
